Meeting Minutes 01/09/02

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Ted Cox at approximately 7:05 P.M at the Butte Community Center. A quorum was present.

Minutes from Last Meeting

Minutes were read from December’s meeting. Motion was put forward to accept the minutes, and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report

Jim Courtney reported for Michelle Maynor a check for $210 was written to Matanuska Electric for the electricity bill.

Correspondence

  • Ted Cox received a letter asking for comments on a Del Roi’s liquor license transfer.
  • A letter was received pertaining to the Hatcher Pass land transfer from the state to the borough.  Comments were due by January 18.
  • A letter about the Free Dump day on June 8th was received.  Fund requests are due by March 29th for funds to pay for dumpster rentals and other miscellaneous costs on the community clean-up day.

Old Business

  • Gregory Nilsson finished installing the new heater.
  • Mike Shields reported on the Old Glenn Highway that was held at Lazy Mountain Bible Church.  The Old Glenn is still awaiting funds before it can be upgraded.  The best chance for funding is if the Garvee bonds pass the Legislature this session.  This is basically funding the roads based on future federal funding projection.  There are no specifics for the Old Glenn upgrade at this time.
  • Mike Shields also reported that flooding was occurring again on the Bodenburg Loop.
  • The date for the annual Spaghetti Feed and Auction is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2002.  Coordination needs done with the Boy Scouts.  Permits and school requests need put in and auction items need to be gathered.

New Business

  • Ted Cox recommended trying to get guest speakers to come to the council meeting.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Ted Cox moved to adjourn at approximately 8:00 p.m. The motion passed.
