Meeting Minutes 02/13/02

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Ted Cox at approximately 7:10 P.M at the Butte Community Center. A quorum was present.

Minutes from Last Meeting

Minutes were read from January’s meeting. Motion was put forward to accept the minutes, and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report

Michelle Maynor reported a balance of $4033.18 left after a check for $69.02 was written to Matanuska Electric for the electricity bill.

 

The council has $2200 left of the grant money designated for the Community Center.  Gregory Nilsson is charging $500 labor + parts to finish the heating project.

Correspondence

  • A letter was received concerning the line easement along the racetrack.  Files and correspondence relating to the easement was due to the Platting Board by 21 February.
  • The Salvation Army sent a letter about a program they have for agencies that help the homeless.
  • A letter explaining the state landfill program was received.

Old Business

  • Gregory Nilsson gave an update on the furnace installation.  Gas will be turned on Friday the 15th.
  • The annual Spaghetti Feed and Auction is on hold until the issue of whether or not food can be brought into the school is solved.

New Business

  • The community center will need more cribbing installed underneath it.  Work crews will be coordinated after breakup.
  • Danny Watley from Trans-Alaska Mechanical is willing to donate fixtures and staff days for plumbing the community center
  • The 302 Operator’s Union may help cleaning up some of the abandoned vehicles with their heavy equipment.  The work will need to be done while the ground is still frozen.
  • Don Zoerb motioned and Michelle Maynor seconded a motion to reaffirm the council’s previous resolution concerning the Borough’s 320 acres.

Ted Cox moved to adjourn at approximately 8:25 p.m. The motion passed.
